Doch hinter der traditionalistischen Fassade dieses bizarren in der Zeit eingefrorenen Berliner Stadtteils tobt ein Machtkampf, und Momme findet sich im Zentrum einer Verschwörung wieder …
Ein verlassenes Gästehaus ist seine letzte Chance: Auf der Flucht vor seinen krankhaften Zwängen kommt Momme in dem Gemäuer als Haushüter unter. Seiner Angst vor der 13 aber entkommt er nicht: Momme entdeckt ein 13. Zimmer, das es angeblich nicht gibt. Auch scheint im Haus das Gespenst einer weißen Frau umzugehen. Auf ihrer Spur gelangt Momme in einen geheimen Stadtteil Berlins, der das Gegenteil der modernen Metropole ist: Elektrizität ist dort verboten, gegen den Fortschritt hat man die Rückkehr zu einer ewigen Wahrheit gestellt. Mommes Eindringen aber bringt die Verhältnisse ins Rutschen. Oberst Secundus Falke etwa, der den Fall Bang untersucht, spielt ebenso ein doppeltes Spiel wie ein gewisser Hinckeldey, der die radikale »Legion des Heiligen Uriel« befehligt. Und das Schicksal des Mannes, der Momme eingeschleust hat, scheint eng verknüpft mit dem Widerstand einer Organisation namens »Die Schwestern«. Bald geht es um Leben und Tod.
“Dreizehnfurcht” – Eigene Meinung:
„Dreizehnfurcht“ ist wirklich eine ungewöhnliche Geschichte und ein Buch voller putziger Eigenarten. Schon allein das Fehlen der Seitenzahlen, die die Zahl 13 enthalten, ist ein amüsantes kleines Gimmick, dass mich beim Lesen schmunzeln lies.
Der Protagonist Momme war mir mit seiner verschrobenen und außergewöhnlichen Phobie gleich sympathisch und die Passagen, in denen es um ihn ging mochte ich am liebsten. Die Herausforderungen, denen sich Momme tagtäglich stellen muss, um mit seiner Angst zu leben sind zwar offenkundig liebenswert, geben aber auch einen guten Einblick, wie hart und einsam solch ein Leben sein kann. Gerade im Hinblick auf unsere heutige schnelllebige Gesellschaft, in der immer mehr Menschen mit Ängsten und Phobien ihr Leben meistern.
Das Konstrukt „Dreizehneichen“ in meinen Kopf zu kriegen und für meine Fantasie greifbar zu machen fiel mir zunächst etwas schwer und hat einige Zeit in Anspruch genommen. Toll fand ich wiederum, dass der Schreib- und Erzählstil den jeweiligen Personen in den Kapiteln angepasst wurde. So finden in Dreizehneichen unglaublich poetische und gesellschaftskritische Unterhaltungen statt, die ich mir mit kleinen Post-its markieren musste, weil sie so schön philosophisch waren.
Im Allgemeinen ist Wieland Freund die Gegensätzlichkeit mit dem Schaffen zweier Welten, die gleich und doch vollkommen verschieden sind, ausgesprochen gut gelungen. Ich mochte die Kontrarietät zwischen dem schnelllebigen, progressiven, „echten“ Berlin und dem traditionsbewussten Dreizehneichen, dass Fortschritt um jeden Preis ablehnt. Dadurch hat man das Gefühl, als bewege man sich zwischen zwei unterschiedlichen Zeitepochen hin und her.
„Dreizehneichen“ bot mir eine interessante Reise. Der Einstieg war fesselnd und vielversprechend. Doch im zweiten Drittel empfand ich die Handlung als zäh und langwierig, was meinen Lesegenuss etwas beeinträchtigte. Zum Glück konnte mich das Ende des Buches wieder begeistern, da es sich als packend und mitreißend erwies.
Fazit:
“Dreizehnfurcht” bietet eine faszinierende, gesellschaftskritische Fantasy-Geschichte mit einzigartigen Elementen und einem wirklich beeindruckenden Schreibstil.
